Containers- pretty much especially on the west coast in California alot of mexican drivers with cheap trucks. Most of the companies don't care about the age of the truck. All I can tell you is prepare to run your ass off to make ends meet but the good thing is there is usually alot of local/short haul work available but like I said the pay isn't there. Your better off pulling dry vans or reefers. As far as rail goes I don't know

I think these container haulers should get together and raise their rates. They are already hauling for next to nothing. Now the port wants them to put tracking devices on their trucks, pay for a background check and pay a license fee to haul out of the ports. It seems to me as though they should ban together and simply refuse to haul the containers or at least raise the rates to an acceptable level. Truckers are giving too much power to the ports and government. Let those containers set for a few weeks and see if that will get their attention. They will be begging trucks to take those containers and name their own price. Of course, there are so many immigrants hauling out of the ports and for such cheap rates that they cannot afford to sit for very long. They live from day to day.

That sentence right there, tell's the entire story. If those Immigrants whom are "legal" were to haul for rates that are profitable, and the "government" did their duty, and eliminated the accessability of the ports to "illegal immigrants"(of which there are plenty at all the ports)...Can-haulers might stand a chance of making a profitable living.
