Thanks Guys, Steve I weighed my truck once without much fuel and it
was 22,900 . See this makes no since , Why would my truck weigh that much ,it is only a 7500 series chevy kodiak with a roll back , headrack
and wheel lift . Your whole truck and trailer weighs just 32,600 . Surely I weighed wrong or something . Thats only 9700 lb difference.

Ya, something doesn't seem right. Go to another scale, CAT.

Hey Darin, I know this stuff can get frustrating. Here's what I see: It's a 7500 series, that makes it a class 7 truck which means your 33,000 lb. rating is probably correct. It's possible for that series to carry a higher rating, especially with the extra axle, but it has to be certified and since it apparently wasn't ordered that way I doubt any of the other components are heavy-duty enough.

So, most importantly, you need to be sure about your empty weight. I have to tell you that I wouldn't be surprised if the weight you have is pretty close. You're a lot longer than we are and many times those aftermarket bodies are awfully heavy. Maybe scales weren't a concern for the guy that had it before you in which case you might not be able to legally haul as many cars as you thought. But this is all speculation. Verify your empty or tare weight, it might even be on your doorjam or inside the glove box. Who knows, maybe it's really not an issue. No sense worrying until you know for sure.

Hey no_worries , I have seen plenty of other rollbacks that are class 7
that are set up the same as mine . Why would they even make this set up if it could not be used ? Seems to me if there was a possibility that this thing can't handle 4 cars the dot man that pulled me in for the level 1 inspection would have noticed because I had 4 cars at the time. Don't get me wrong I am not arguing with you but am wondering why they would go to the expense of building a 4 car rollback that is illegel to use as it was intended.

Darin,

According to GM the cab and chassis weighs about 11200 lbs. I have no idea what the bed and rack weigh.

I see trucks like yours all the time with 4 cars on them so there has to be a legal way to do it.

Thanks Bigmon. I believe I was incorrectly weighed. It was at a truck stop
east of Owensboro on hwy 60. I remember I pulled up on the scale and went inside to see what I was suppose to do and the girl said pull up on the scale. I said I am already on it, seems like there was some sort of confusion besides all of that , so stupid me trying not to look too stupid paid for the scale ticket and left. Could it be that I got the wrong ticket.
I guessed that the truck probably weighed around 12000 as a cab and chassis , I had a 6500 series a few years ago with a steel dump bed and it only weighed around 9,500 as I recall. Anyway The rollback bed is aluminum, so is the headrack . Of coarse the framing for the headrack is steel . I can hardly see how all of that would weigh 12000 . I will go back and re weigh it asap.
