Default Ang good jobs running the midwest?

I bought my first truck last June(thanks to alot of help from you folks here, espically gman) and have been leased to United Petroleum since then.
I make pretty good money, about $1.10 mile after fuel and I am home every night. The pay is better than it sounds but I drive home every night and 2/3 of my miles are empty.
Anyway, the hauling gas to wal-marts is getting to be more strain that I want to take,so I am searching to see whats out there.
Is there anywhere I can lease on and get alot of decent freight in/out Oklahoma going north or south?
I dont care if its flatbed, van, tank,or covered wagon.

CRST Malone has an agent in Tulsa and Oklahoma City who used to have some decent paying freight. Landstar has agents all over Oklahoma, Texas, etc., Rates have been pretty flat in Texas lately, but are usually not too bad going up to Oklahoma. There are some carriers based around Dallas who may be able to help you. Lisa, Lone Star and some other carriers. I don't know much about their rates or pay.

Lone Star might not be a bad option, but stay away from Lisa motor lines out of Fort Worth. They are just a division of FFE and their rates are way down.

Ummmmm....Why not ask UP if you can transfer over to the Bulk division, and haul oil and additives?? Shell, ExxonMobil, Citgo all have runs off the Gulf Coast into OK, plus there is Afton and ConocoPhillips out of E. Saint Louis area. UP hauls for all of them...just like all the other outfits do....the plus side is..your already leased to UP. All those outfits I mention pay a decent linehaul rate, as well as a killer fuel surcharge too.
