well I just got my mail for yesterday ( Sat) and I have four deliquent
Ifta returns. They are for each qtr of 2007 , I didn't get authority until
Jan , 19 2008 and didn't get set up for Ifta, UCR and get my plates till Jan, 22, 2008 . What do you guys make of this. Darin

Call them and let them know on the phone. They are usually informative on the phone, at least in my experience. Tell them your situation.

They should be able to correct it over the telephone. I have found the IFTA people in my state to be very courteous and helpful.

You may want to follow up in writing. I would keep track of whom I talked and what was said.

Yes, I learned a long time ago to get the name of the person I am speaking with and your advise of sending in a written note is a good way
to keep things from becoming lost or forgotten. D

My guess is that someone wrote 2007 down somewhere instead of 2008.

Ok , I addressed this a bit on my other forum but will update it here . As you know I got notices on Sat the 2nd. ( deliquent returns for each qtr of 2007) I called on Mon the 4th and was told , and I quote" we see no record of you being sent any notices, you are new so you are ok , must be a glitch throw them away"
Well I got home Sat on the 9th and I had gotten three TAX DUE STATEMENTS that said I owed around $20,000 for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd qtrs of 2007 combined. These were sent out on the 5th of Feb. The deliquent notices I got
in the first place were sent on the 30th of Jan and asked that I file or would be penalized. I am supposing that this isa follow up " glitch"
but even if this were remotely correct , I am sure the 5 days between
the notices indicates a real problem . IOW, if I did owe a deliquent tax
for any period and got a notice that said " file this or be penalized "
I would surely have more than 5 days to fill it out, send it in before I get
the penalty. Anyway I will be calling again and talking to Craig ( he is the one that told me not to worry and throw the first notices away).

You are allowed 30 days from the end of a quarter to file your state IFTA. I think that I would send a certified letter to the state and confirm your conversation and explain about you only recently getting your authority.

Hey Darin, as I've mentioned before I use a service that charges $38 per month and I don't worry about none of this.


You could give them a call 305-652-9990 their name is Carrier Service. They are in Miami but they mail you prepaid envelopes and stuff so you can be anywhere.

Also, and I say this very respectfully, could we get some spaces between your sentences. It's hard to read sometimes
