Default Multiple trucks under company authority???

Is it possible for one person to own multiple trucks, hire people to drive the trucks and sign them on with a non expedited carrier such as Werner? Or do companies only want the owner of the truck to drive for them?

An o/o could, but why would he waste the time and money getting his own authority only to lease his trucks to a company that uses their own authority? What your describing is a "small fleet owner".

There are a number of owners who own serveral trucks who lease them to a carrier. I recall talking with a fleet owner who was leased to Landstar. He had 16 trucks and all were leased to Landstar. With that many units, he would probably have been much better off with his own authority. At one time, I had 2 trucks leased to CRST Malone. There were others who were leased to them who had more trucks than I did who leased to them. I don't think Werner would be your best choice if you want to own a fleet of trucks and lease to a carrier. I would probably go with a carrier who pays percentage, such as Landstar or CRST Malone. There are also other carriers who pay percentage.
