Since most truckers I talk to say aero trucks are worth a full MPG over a classic. And.... 95% of fleets out there run aero trucks(I'm sure their accountants pencils are sharper then ours ever will be) The onus is on YOU to prove otherwise, not me. As for data: http://www.freightlinertrucks.com/tr...fficiency.aspx compare the cascadia to the 386, not necassarily a "classic" but it's 22.9% less drag. Since drag is half of rolling resistance at 60, it would account for a 11.45% increase in fuel mileage. http://www.everytime.cummins.com/eve...Whitepaper.pdf http://www.kenworth.com/brochures/FuelEfficiency.pdf

Try Denver to Chicago paid to the truck 6 bucks a mile and they bounced me out of Casper to get that one.

I have 2 '97 T-600's. Both 9 overs with 3.73 rears. 1 has a 525 Cummins and the other a 475 Cat. BOTH get 5.5 to 5.8 mpg.
My truck is a 97 FL Classic. 9 over with 3.58 rears and 500 Detroit. It gets 5.5 to 5.8 mpg. The KW's have had many drivers on them over the years and have always returned the same fuel mileage. I'm the only one that drives the classic, but I guarantee you a lot of my fuel mileage falls away under the heaviness of my right foot. I have the T-600's both set to govern at 90 mph (probably all they will do anyway) and no governor set on my Classic. I don't run that, but do nearly always push the speed limit by +5 wherever I'm at. I'm sure my drivers do the same. That's my data over 10 years.

...thus guesstimating aero-types about 30%-40% more efficient than cabovers
Generally that will be the difference between an aero truck and a non-aero truck.
Put great specs in the aero truck, and the difference will be larger. KeepOnTruckingSAFELY

i have a cabover a 95' intl with a 11.1 det & a super 10. this is my 1st truck & i'm still driving it everyday. I have over 1 mil miles on it. it gets a min of 6 mpg. i'm averaging 6.5 & if i keep it at 60 mph i get 7 mpg. I have no idea why i get good mpg. I always have. one thing i can think of is i have a real short wheelbase wich keeps my trailer very close to my truck reducing air hitting the trailer headboard.

Religion is an insult to human dignity. Without it you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

Mandilon, I don't know how he gets the same MPG loaded and empty, but he does. As someone who has been trucking 30+ years, I think he's credible and knows about as much as trucks as Gman.
So, no, I'm not smoking anything. He can't believe his truck gets the same mpg loaded and empty either. But hey, what does he know- he actually owns a truck and drives it unlike some people.
