Default GENERATORS

Would it be legal to secure a small generator to the catwalk to use in winter time?

2600 wats 120 v should be enough to plug your truck in winter time

and run a small heater for youre sleeper.

By "catwalk", do you mean the deckplate behind the cab? If so, yes, I see them all the time, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it's legal. Just use a decent securement,ie; ratchet straps rated for the weight or better yet u bolts. NO BUNGEE CORDS!!

Bungees and duct tape and piece of used used chewing gum.

But in all seriousness, I am unclear on the legal aspect. Be sure to watch the clearance between the front wall of the trailer and the generator. Stopping and putting the 4 ways on in a tight turn is the worst time to realize its not enough clearance

thanks guys this is a small generator I saw @ home depo, that would easely fit into flatbed tool box. I just need to see if it carries the power of the engin block and a small heater. this is a 1200w generator
for $400 .

Your block heater will draw 1600 to 1800 watts, and a small heater will run 700 to 1600 watts.

You would probably need at least 3500 watts to do that, as Doghouse said, although I like the idea of a flatbed toolbox. You could mount the gen on a slide-out tray, there is a company called Kwikee that makes entry steps for Rv's that also makes the trays.

Not sure where you live or what prices typically are, but 400.00 sounds too high for a 1200 watt generator.
