Default US DOT #'s

Long post I'll try to keep it short. My truck doesn't have any signage other than the company name and a truck # on it. I have to go to KY to pick up in the next day or two. I won't be going back in the near future so I don't want to put a lot of #'s on it I won't need after this trip. The truck is plated and insured for all 48 states and Can. I just don't want to be getting pulled over and harrassed for not having #'s on it. I did a search but the KYU # rule is confusing. Thanks for any tips.

You no longer need to have the KYU number on the truck unless you are leased to a carrier, so I understand. You are supposed to display your DOT number on the truck. If you have a KYU number and it just isn't on the truck you will probably be alright. If you do go through a scale and they question you, then you show them your KYU paperwork.

Thanks GMAN we got the DOT#'s cut and put them on. We got there and back with no problems at all. All the scales were closed so that helped out a lot LOL There was a few comments on the cb about a Mi 6 axle being down in Ky though. The customer got a kick out of all the axles too, especially to only pick up 10,000 lbs.

I am glad the trip went well, special k. You never know when some of those scales are going to be closed. I always plan on them being open and enjoy the surprise when they are closed.
