Verizon
Well, I'm a Canadian and I have a Verizon phone. Here's how I did it. I drove over to Port Huron MI one day and saw a Verizon agent. I was staying at a hotel there so I gave them the hotel address as my residence. Worked like a charm. When asked for the Social Security Number, I gave my Social Insurance Number - it's the same format; so the U.S. computer thinks it's okay. They asked me for US$400 deposit and I was approved. When I had the phone I logged on to the Verizon Wireless web site, opened a user account, and changed my billing to PAPERLESS. In this way they wouldn't send any mail to the hotel address on file. My bills are paid automatically via my Canadian issued credit card. When the bill is ready for viewing, I get an notification email. I love Verizon: 800 minutes with no long distance, no roaming, free voice mail, free Call Display, extra 1000 minutes for use on weekends and evenings ... all this is ANYWHERE IN CANADA AND USA ... and it cost me only 79 bucks a month. Compare that to 400 minutes at Cnd$110 from Rogers (no voice mail, no call display, no extra minutes on weekends and evenings). The only inconvenience of using U.S. cell phones is the area code. In my case it's "810" which is Port Huron, MI!
