Tie between International 9900, Mack Granite, and the Volvo VHD though I now own a Pete so I guess I'll throw that one in.

I see you're considering a T2. We have one of those.....an '01 model year bought used in '01. It is a brutal truck for wind noise. Drivers door blows a hurricane. Dealer could never get it fixed.

Also water falls on the dashboard like Niagara Falls when it's raining hard.

Default preferred truck

I love my 06 T-600 the ride is pretty nice, the sleeper is a 86" studio, the motor is 550 Cat turned up, the transmission is a 18 spd auto-shift, the MPG is 6.73 pulling an average load of 84,900/w a cattle pot. IF I was to buy another truck I think it would have to be a Volvo 780 with the 16 L motor. I have owned 88, and 00 379's,02 classic Ftlr, 97 Century,99 Volvo 610. And out of those the 610 had the fewest problems and best ride.

I have owned Internationals, Freightliners and Volvos. I have driven the Pete 379's, KW W900 studio, Ford Aeromax and a Mack daycab.

The worst of the bunch was the 2002 W900 270 inch wheel base, beat me to death. And there was nothing wrong with the truck. My 6 foot, 230 lb body did not get along with this truck at all. And it was a beautiful truck. But I would never buy one, and the studio sleeper was not that well thought out in my book.

The Pete's are nice, but I know the cost of ownership, same as the KW . Chrome and stainless are expensive. And the sleeper with the dinette and double bed is no longer available. Loved that truck, but had problems with the Cat.

The 2005 Freightliner Columbia I owned was incredibly noisy on the inside, to the point of being painful. None of the drivers I had in it liked the truck for this reason. And they have not changed a thing inside since as far back as I can recall. I drove a new FLD condo back in 1993, it was just as bad then, as they are today. Quality was severly lacking in my 2005 which has been sold.

The International, see Freightliner.

The Aeromax, great truck back then, one of the few Ford products I never had trouble with. It had a good feel to it, like a Volvo.

The Volvo, I love these trucks. I own a 2007 780. I traded a 2006 630 for this truck for the extra room the 780 offers. Love the dinette, well thought out interior design. Very quiet, virtually no interior noise, just like driving a car. And I really like the 530 hp ISX Cummins under the hood. You cannot beat this motor, 6 stage Jake brake, and incredible torque.

I'll stick with the Volvos for now, unless someone comes out with something better after I wear this thing out.

I was sitting in a fuel stop in northern Virginia a few days ago when a guy drove past me and I could barely hear the engine. I think it is the quietest engine I have heard. It turned out to be one of the new Volvo's with the hood. The interior was great. The only problem is that he told me he only got about 4.2 mpg. And that is with an 18 speed and about 550 hp Cummins.

thats an emissions engine for ya, tell me how you lower emissions when you use more fuel to go the same distance, then add in the increased emissions from refinery making it and the truck(s) delivering it.
