What made you decide to go new instead of used rank?

I really wanted an older truck because I didn't want to lay out all that cash. But 2 year old (pre-emission) Canadian trucks with 350,000+ miles were $90,000! Or you could get a new one for $115,000.

A while back, I looked at depreciations for the below units (from truckpaper) and the numbers are pretty close to what you found Rank. I was looking to see what gets the best bang for the buck in terms of the least amount of depreciation if you buy new...or...the most amount if you buy used.

(I hope this spreadsheet copies over when I post it)

Depreciation 2007 2006 2005 2004
Volvo $18,139 $10,446 $9,605
W900 $17,060 $11,919 $4,064
Pete 387 $15,488 $11,548 $8,764
T600 $22,077 $12,013 $13,089
Pete 379 $12,602 $15,222 $5,897
Freightliner Century
avg $17,073 $12,230 $8,284
