Laws vary from one jurisdiction to another. Your best bet would be to either not have any tint or use a very light one.

my oldman has 20% for about 1 1/2 years so far and has never been botherd. He drives local NJ PA DE.

I don't think it's a question of, you've never been bothered but more that you've never been hassled yet. There are plenty of trucks on the road with rolling violations but they are not going to be pulled over for them. If you are pulled over for speeding or overweight I think it will be an issue and just one more fine on top of the others.

I have some green lights on my truck which are illegal. Twice already a DOT officer has commented on how cool my green lights are and also said they were illegal but did nothing.

I plan on getting my windows tinted as soon as I can get to a place that does it.

I wouldn't even think about doing it.

Hard enough to see backing up when your mirrors/windows are covered in salt.

When you are backing in a dark parking spot and tired, having tinted windows could be a factor. Even with clean windows, it can sometimes be difficult to see. Having darkened windows could complicate things. I think that I will stick to non-tinted windows. :wink:
