Default What's a standard layover rate?

I never had to layover before until today - in my angry haste I agreed to $200. I punched myself afterward because I realized that I could have gotten $600.00. Lesson learned - you can bet I won't get taken a 2nd time.

200$ doesn`t sound so bad I guess since the truck isn't moving, but on the other hand the truck isn't moving

mines 75$ an hour after two hours from scheduled delivery time, if I get there ahead of schedule thats my problem not theirs.

I don`t like waiting, hence the higher rate to deter it from happening, but a plus with a flatbed is usually the receiver wants it RIGHT NOW

I didn't know there ws a standard but it should be over $400 or else they could screw you on detention. 8 hours X $50/hr means you could collect $400 for waiting. If the layover fee is $200 they will may "lay you over" after 4 hours detention. Worse yet, give you $150 TNU and send you down the road after you wait all day.

Our detention policy is $50-75 an hour to a max of $600-$750 a day. How the broker strikes me in our initial dealings and the nature of the load determines my rate within these ranges.

Another learning experience. Your standard layover rate is now $600.00. The most I ever got was $800.00 and that was FEMA. Most want to pay $150 TNU. Stick to your new $600 rate, shippers will usually pay, brokers dont have the balls to demand it from the shipper for holding up YOUR truck, so they offer you $150 TNU.

I GET $400/for my moving van. A little less than the $600 mark, but I am leased to a carrier and not 100% independent o/o.
