Default Schnieder independent?

Not sure if I should post this here, or in the O/O forum. Mods feel free to move if needed. here goes...

Has anyone been or know any info about O/O for schnieder particularly in the bulk division. I have had enough of being a "reefer yanker" and I also want to be an O/O. I see that they don't pay that good per mile for O/O but there is incentives that can average $1.20 a mile, but on the other hand they will garauntee the miles.

As a bulk O/O would I have to purchase the pump equipment for the power unit?

I love the company I work for now don't get me wrong I have said all great things about them and I will always say good things. But these grocery warehouses are the biggest pain in my you know what. Guess it's not for me.

I never want to pull a reefer again, I'm starting to have nightmares about it. and cringe when I hear that reefer fire up. and also don't get any sleep at night when that thing starts....

Thanks in advance for any feed back!!!

You have to pay for the equipment, they'll do a settlement deduction for it. You'll have the miles in bulk, but at their pay rate you'll make about the same as if you were a company driver. The difference is you can go home when you want.

at 1.20 a mile you`ll probably make more money staying a company driver.

it cost me roughly 70 cpm to run and thats with a paid off truck, trailer and not having to put money into a maintenance account.

I agree with Brian. At the rate Schneider is willing to pay, you can make about as much being a company driver.

Do they give you a truck? If not, then you will have equipment costs.

I find it interesting that you used independent and Schneider in the title. When you lease to a carrier you are not independent. You will need your authority to be considered independent. :P

I worked for SNI and every veteran SNI I talked to all agreed that it is better to stay a company driver. You will be much better off.
