Meets 2010 emissions and an ultra-low .279 bsfc, translates to 50% efficiency. Most engines nowadays are around 40% efficient.

Meets 2010 emissions and can easily get 8+ mpg.

I want.

To qualify that bsfc, bsfc is described as the amount of fuel, in lbs, it takes to make one horsepower for one hour. Typical gas engines are around .4-.45 and diesels are around .3-.35. Lower is better.

Say it takes 200 hp to push our rigs down the road, let's do a little math here, assume that diesel weighs 7 lbs a gallon:

at 65 mph, using 200 hp, that requires 55.8 lbs of fuel for an hour. 200 X .279 = 55.8 lbs of fuel. 55.8 / 7 = 7.97 gallons. 65 miles / 7.97 gallons = 8.15 MPG.

if tomorrows engines got 20mpg, then tomorrows loads would pay half the amount, everything is always proportional, at the end of the year you would make the same money, so if we start paying$5 for diesel then shippers pay more for load and again the bottom line is that you would make the same money.

That's if all the trucks get the exact same fuel mileage as you do.

Right now, fuel mileage keeps dropping with every new emissions standard coming out.

The best thing to do right now is get a pre 2003 truck that gets 8+ mpg, and hold on to it in 10-15 years. You should be able to retire by that time!

The average truck right now gets about 6 mpg. Assuming 120,000 miles a year, the 8 mpg average truck will use 5,000 less gallons of fuel.

Over 10 years, thats $150,000 at $3 a gallon.

That's a LOT of coin.

Jumbo, I'm with you on this one,....I was afraid to even open the thread.
If your going to mention horny on a truckers forum, you will be required from this moment on to at least post pic's of a scantily clad bikini model (female please),....or suffer the consequences,.....now pardon me while I go get the bleach
