If you want to get a temporary tag, you will likely need to find a dealer who will sell you one. However, I doubt whether they will unless they sell you a truck. I have no idea whether your state will issue a temporary plate. Most states issue their apportioned plates at the state capital. To be legal, you will need base plates and an IFTA account. Frankly, I don't see how you will be able to run unless you can find someone who will sell or issue you a temporary plate. If you don't have the funds for a base plate, how are you going to buy fuel? If you are that short of cash, perhaps you should consider leasing to a carrier who will pay for them in your behalf and take a small amount out each week.
