Default YET ANOTHER LEASE PURCHASE DISCUSSION THREAD

Hello again.

Man, am I ever glad to have found this site. I was SERIOUSLY thinking about leasing a tractor from the company I work for, but after having read through this forum I have definately changed my mind.

Still want to become an O/O, but will buy the truck myself, that is if I can get my wife to stop spending so much $$.

Question: are there any regulations regarding selling advertising space on the trailer? If not why don't more O/O's do this? It seems like a great way to add a bit more income to the books.

And one more question: since L/P is out of the question, what books can I read to learn more about Truck ownership? I believe I have a good business head on my shoulders, but dont want to get into this blindly. after all, a fool and his money may soon be parted; but a blind fool thinks the dollars in his wallet are c-notes.

Never read it, but it's sounds good!
But mostly, it's all about common sense, and some math skills. Good luck! 8)

A few books that may be of interest:

"The Millionaire Next Door" by Stanley and Danko could help you and the Mrs. get the spending under control.

Or she might perfer some of the Suzie Ormand stuff; sound financial planning with a girl power wrapper.

"Sweatshops on Wheels" is a bit dry and thick but it will open your eyes to what you're getting in too as an O/O.

The two chapters where the Author rides along with a O/O HM Tanker driver in "Uncommon Carriers" by John McPhee are good too.

I am glad that you decided against a fleece deal, WingmanIII.

I have known of a few who sell advertising on their trailers. Unless the ads are offensive or vulgar, I don't know of any regulations which prohibit the practice.
