Finally I have some free time to update. So where to start......
To make a long story short, I have been looking to upgrade my equipment and trade in my 2001 Western Star for some time now. When I bought the Star, it was not because that was the exact truck I wanted, but since it was my first truck I basically had to settle for what I could afford and what a lender would finance me for. I knew that eventually I would trade it in for something better.
I finally came across what I felt was a good deal and real close to what I wanted so I pulled the trigger. I found a 2006 Perterbilt 379 at Warner Truck Center in West Valley, UT. Here's some general info on the truck and pics below:
2006 Pete Ex. Hood
Maroon color with painted pin stripping (
almost the same color as my Star but a little lighter. Would not be my first choice of color but it actually looks pretty good in person.)
CAT C-15
10 Speed (
wish it had at least a 13, but oh well)
3:36 rears
265wb
70" with American Class interior
498k miles
Dual 135gal tanks
Dual power mirrors and window
Pioneer sound system with EQ, Sub woofer and remote
I bought it for 46K but I am financing 55k as they put 9k of what I owed on the Star onto it. Even at 55k I still feel it's a decent deal. I also decided to spend a little extra money and have custom decals made for the truck, VIN, DOT numbers, and Landstar logo.
I haven't pulled a load with it yet but with my empty trailer she rolls down the road smooth and it's turning radius is just as good if not better than my Star. I have always heard that they were rough rides and had crappy turning radius's but I don't see that.
Here are some pics. I took them with my cell phone and it was over cast out so they may not be the best quality. The logo is gold with silver leaf outlining and black shadowing.
