In being soo new, one thing I havn't figured out is to verbally "suspend" an alert without having to log onto your laptop to suspend it.I have never also tried using the IVR for the "check calls" but I rather do it online.

Newb, let me tell you how we do it at Lansttar. Sometimes, often not, but sometimes at the end of a message if you let it play long enough it'll give you options to say 'repeat' or say 'suspend'. 'suspend' will deactivate that particular load subscription (load match).

So, you can voluntariliy get qualcomm, huh? Listen, know any place where I can get somebody to rip my fingernails off with a pair off pliers, too?

Several years ago I ran into a driver who drove for a BCO leased to Landstar. He had a qualcomm, laptop, pager and cell phone. This guy was prepared for everything. :lol: When I was leased to them all we had were 800 pagers. They worked pretty good, but unless you had a cell phone, the better loads were already gone by the time you could find a pay phone. :evil:

Hey Cam since you are a landstar wizard I bet you didn't know this.
You do use MS trips and streets in your truck right?Did you know the software can tell you exactly how much fuel you will burn after routing all your stops in the window pane called "route planner".Did you know after getting all your stops in that window pane you can click on the "more options" tab and then the "cost" tab.You can also select the radio button "calculate driving cots based on fuel price" or "calculate driving cost based on fixed rate.
I usually select that at a cost of .47 cents per mile (fuel).This is just my cost of fuel and not expense.Did you also know you could select the zoom feature after you have all your stops in the window pane to get a specific restaurant,park name and rest area or even zip code by cityname.I bet ya never knew that.
I am going back out and I am heading to all the freight lanes, Indianapolis.It picks up friday and delivers tuesday.00 miles on the hub and 560 practical miles at $2.10/mile gross and about $1.40 TTT(25kibs).Not to mention I wouldn't get stuck because I have also booked a load back to the hen coop on 5/29.I knocked out 5 local runs and I am heading back out.

No, I never knew all that about Streets and Trips.

Henboy, just 'F' it, already. :shock: Not you, I mean digging through the trash looking for scraps of freight to hall. Steve says he posts his truck and sifts through all the calls he gets and he may be up there in the $1.80 range for an average on loaded miles. Mike3fan is hauling for $1.50 PER HUB MILE, spends no time looking for loads and is evidently getting enough of those high dollar miles to push his 70. When's the last time you or I were pushing our 70.

Lansttar does have a lot of freedom! And that's huge. But right now, I want the money coming in because I want to make some debts go bye, bye. I think I'm through trying to make this work, but don't let me discourage you :shock: :wink: :lol: :lol:

Me and Pepe, we're alligators. I don't know about his henchman, sounds like a bad mofo, though. I'd bet he's a survivor, too.

Default I am almost figuring it out.

I am not leaving home again until I get at least 2 trips booked to get me back home or to get me ahead without being stagnant at a dead place.Did you ever make it to your 1600 mile run that delivered this tuesday?We really need to find a way to go outside of Landstar load board and solicit business from loadit.com to our agents etc...
I guess it may seem complicated but our friends at the BCO forums are all doing it.`We may just need an account from the general load board or incase users on here will be willing to give us access to their domain.
TOO MANY CHEAP FREIGHTS ON LANDSTAR BOARDS.for ex. you may run all the freight (from our board)coming out of PA, VA or even GA and only 15% of the freight pays $2.00/mile gross or a bit more.Not to mention these states are known for good freight.Landstar that we all know is a mess.
Where the hell are you CAM?Probably back out in Utah.I am getting tired of going through the mess and seeing crap like $1.15 gross from GA to Ohio.Could be cheap because the agents know OHIO,IL and IN is hot for freight and they deserve to be low rates going that way?I don't know when my time will come but I have been looking at ebay and those crack head prices on 53's.What is a 70 mr. CAM?Sometimes soliciting by using your small agent book is a waste because the agents know who to call without posting the load.Trust me I called about 30 agents in MICH when I was at a halt.

I am sorry to hear that some of you aren't doing so well with Landstar. I spoke to a new BCO about 2 hours ago. He says that he isn't doing well, either, and is thinking about leaving after only 3 weeks. Believe me, there is better paying freight out there. I have gotten several calls this week about hauling van freight. One call made me think perhaps I should go out and buy a van. I would mention the rate, but you probably would not believe me. If I didn't know the broker, I might not believe it either. But there is much better paying freight than you are making right now. It takes a while to find the better paying freight with Landstar. Where have you been running? That may be the problem. If you are running in low paying freight areas, you won't do very well with them or most any other carrier.

I think Landstar is a joke. Especially those 10' wide SD loads out of New Holland that MAM Bobby peddles for $1.50/mile.

And the manlifts out of Shippensburg and McConnellsburg (can't remember the terminal acronym) is the same. I called the shipper direct (never would stoop to the LS rate) and he laughed at me when I bid $2/mile for steps 6 months ago.
