New O/O questions

Default New O/O questions

I want to run mostly Florida only and i was wondering where would be the best place for me to find loads.What kind of authority do i need for Florida only??What regulations do i follow??drug testing,dot physical,permits. Any info would be appreciated.

You will need to get your motor carrier authority, dot number, insurance, etc., to be legal. As a motor carrier you will be required to comply with all federal and state DOT regulations which includes joining a random drug screen consortium, and all CDL drivers will need to have a current DOT physical. As far as any other permits and licenses, it depends on what you haul and where you plan on going. As far as loads are concerned, you can either find your own shippers or subscribe to one or more load boards. If you plan on picking up and delivering within the state of Florida, you may need intrastate authority in addition to federal motor carrier authority. I believe Florida is one of a handful of states which require intrastate authority for loads originating and ending within the state. You may want to double check that.
