Default Intra versus Interstate authority

Hmmm I do know the difference

Inter: is crossing state lines with freight

Intra: Is hauling just within the state

(just trucking applications for this definition). Kinda funny, when I was talking to the OOIDA lady to get my authority set up, she asked, 'do you want us to help you with Intrastate too?" I paused for a minute, then said nah, Ill check on it when I get my permenant base plate n tags (she said it would be and additional 200 if they did it so I passed).
K If I just get the Intrastate authority...I ques that would mean I could load in California, but have to deliver out of state (which is fine by me).
In fact once I go out, I intend to put as much distance between me n Ca as I can ....n not come back for a few months :-p (have real issues with my home state...no love loss here)
Just wondering if I understand this right....I can p/u here in California, just cant deliver without the intrastate authority as I understand.

That is correct. You must have intrastate authority to haul a load that picks up and delivers within CA. By the way, if you're plating in CA be prepared for a long wait for your IFTA. You can't just walk into the office in Sac and get your stickers like you can in some other states. Looking at 3 weeks or so once you file the app.

There are a few other states that you must have intrastate authority to pick up and deliver the same load with in the state borders.

So I have to get a diff authority(intra) if I pick up in Florida and deliver to Florida, and then interstate to pick up in Florida and deliver out of state.
Does anyone have both?

To be legal...yes. I have both for CA. There's also FL, TX, KY, and I'm not sure who else requires it.
