The way Canadians pay for their health care is through a value added tax. It is a sales tax. I don't recall exactly how it is broken down, but the sales and health care tax comes to about 15%, if I remember correctly. And when we visit Canada, each time we make a purchase, we help pay for their health care since it is collected at the time of purchase. If you think health care is expensive now, wait until it is FREE! :roll:

I know I had a rear end go bad in Woodstock,ON and when I left Ontario I applied to have the GST or PST can't remember which it was reimbursed.I got a check for like $350 a few months later.
