Well, I hope you like the trucking business if you make the jump. My brother-in law has a nice little real estate business and was asking my sister about me- 'how does he like owning a truck?' I just told her it's working really, really well for me. Like quite a few on the board, it wasn't what I was thinking about standing in line with my new courses ready to pay the registrar all those years. Plans change. 8) I've got no wife or kids to get back to. I love my Mom but I talk to her on the phone often and see her...enough. When I don't have a load I'm usually happy to go trapsing around in cyberspace or poking around if it's a good city. Guys will know this, places like Jim's Truckstop up there in Cheektowanga, NY- walking distance to the mall, Borders, Fudrucker's... I just sat outside in Phoenix on a gorgeous day having lunch at Rubio's waiting to deliver to the adjacent Best Buy. If I sit a day or two that's fine. I can actually 'live' out here with no real longing to be someplace else, and that's huge, no longing to be someplace you are not. That's one of the worst things about this business for many (probably most) drivers.
And, there are all kinds of misfits in this profession. Guys can vouch for this too, sometimes you'll hear drivers bragging about their felonies, stuff like that- it's funny  Misfits..., 'normal' regular dudes, too.
God bless you. I know you're going to do just fine.
