Anyone know any small companys that run to Long Island that hire owner/operators? I prefer van trailers dont really want to do trash. Looking to be home every other night if possiable. :!:

I don't know about small companies, but I recall seeing quite a few Landstar trailers at a drop yard somewhere on Long Island. If I remember correctly it was a few miles east of JFK, perhaps Farmingdale? There are a number of manufacturing plants on the island. You might even check with one of the scales, if you can find them open. They would certainly be familiar with most of the local carriers.

True, you can also try Grocery Haulers, they supply , Key Food, Waldbaums, and Path-Mark stores out in LI

I am leased on to a local company here on the Island. It's OK. I have a dedicated run 5 days a week. I finish pretty early. I will search and find all my own loads to make extra money on the side. I also use a Local broker. There is a lot of freight in this area. You can can make a decent living here if you go out and get it.

JB hunt runs local here, 3P logistics, Cardinal logistics, TMC, Fed-Ex, etc. Just a little research and you will find more companies. All of these companies will lease you a truck, but you should get your own. It will benefit you in every way. Good Luck.
