Default information request on peterbuilt 387

I've decided to buy a peterbuilt 387 truck with a cat engine. I need any information about a truck. What's the difference between c15 and c12. Which transmition is better 10 speed or 13 speed. All my friends have volvo's. I decided to buy peterbuild, so any information is helpfull. Thanks

I would like to find someone in the Austin Texas area who could help me with my skills test. I have a permit and I would need someone with the equipment to help me with my driving skills. Please let me know how much you would charge. Thank you, Jack Bokay

Peterbilt 379's were always my favorite truck. 387 is a little more aerodynamic. Super 13 speeds are my favorite. They give you plenty of gear choices without overdoing it. Pay attention to the rear end gearing ratio. Smaller numbers generally mean faster road speeds, but more stress on the drive line. Cat motors are my favorite, particularly the C15 500hp. Expensive and a little pricey to repair, but they have held up better for me. The bigger block the better in my book. You can always down rate the power for economy. Resale value is better with the big blocks. Simple logic: If you constantly push a motor to its limits it will break sooner or later. Kind of like using a chihuahua as a sled dog.

They do not make a C12 engine. The C13 is 12.5 liter engine and the C15 is a 15.2 liter engine. The C15 will out last a C13. But the C13 is a lightler engine.

You want a C15 engine - 475 hp

10 speed transmission is just fine.

If you are buying new send me a PM and I will try to help you out.

No C-12 would be a new one to me also. I know the 2007 KW T800's came with either a C-12 or C-15 as of last November at least. Maybe they've changed since then???

The C13 replaced the C12 which I believe replaced the 3306 when Cat changed to the "C" naming scheme.
