..am at the house due to this cheap sh*t that has taken over the country.
Friend of mine just got out of Charlotte after being here for about the same amount of time for 800 to Maddison, Winsconsin, they found him a partial load with two stops to Oregon somewhere paying about 1.35-40 on the net that delivers Friday, he's being all happy about it and called to express that, am thinking to myself : to go in you have to get out but for what rate? . i didnt tell him that and am really curious whats he gonna take back...

Ill be home till the March if need to be BUT i will not go thru this crap..

That's the nice thing about handling your business, you can afford to wait things out. Other than a very lucrative 10-day trip in December, we've been home since before Thanksgiving and I'm not planning on moving until the second half of March at the earliest. Now if only the weather would cooperate...we may not even reach 65 today! 8)

There is no point in pulling freight if all you can do is buy fuel. You might as well sit at home. You might take this time and start calling on your own shippers. Things are slow, but freight still needs to be moved.

i dont concider myself as being well off by any means, i have a 1500 truck payment with 300 insurance every month but i worked thru the past 6 months pretty good and i'd rather sit my ass on my couch than be driving in snow for these rates that these SOB's need to be ashamed of, when i first started in 04 i remember i could choose where to go anywhere at anytime with the rates that really kicked ass, man did it change a'lot in only couple of years..

Being down that $3600 is still better off IMO. Take some time off, work on the truck, spend timw with the family....whatever.

Anything is better than having an accident pulling someone's cheap freight through that snow. Personally, I will not pull someones shite 10 hours for a couple hundred bucks pre tax profit. Too much risk, too little reward.

I can associate.....the last two weeks my dad has been in a complete rage about the freight situation! He has parked the truck for the moment and put it in for a lil warranty engine work. Amidst all the $hit hitting the fan, his truck decided to go south on fuel mileage and power. Only averaging 4.6 mpg right now :shock:

Just an update on my buddys load back...He got that off in Portland just to accept a last minute load to Phoenix AZ for 1200 flat, i think there 1000 miles or so from where he was at which makes this load 1.20 per mile, 20% cut for expenses and he ended up hauling for .96 per mile to PHOENIX, worst place on earth to be in....i advised him NOT to go there since last time i was there i got stuck for 2 days without anything AT ALL.
Thats another bad load, one good and two bad is not something id like to work for..

Am still sitting firm...

On another board there someone who said YES to cheap freight a year ago. Didn't haul anything over $2/loaded mile in all of 2006. Is now selling truck and getting out.....lost too much money.

Last post read "Say no to cheap freight.....I know for sure you go broke if you don't".
