Default Weight

Most trucks with sleeper has GVW about 32-33K lbs+ 10K trailer=42-43K. A lot of loads which I find by I-net brokers are 40-45Klbs. This is overweight. How o/o can accept loads like this?

Seems heavy. For example, our T-6 + 48' Reitnour step deck = 30,000. Same trailer with a T2 = 31,000. The same T2 coupled to a 53' steel non detachable double drop weighs 36,000.

Yep, because the company drivers don't want them.

1. Keep the truck's wheelbase short.
2. Use an aluminum trailer (but they won't last as long as a combo or all steel)
3. Don't put alot of uneccessary stuff on your truck.

I can put a 45k load on my truck. My truck weighs almost 21k, but some of our trailers(4000 series) are REALLY light.

Unless you have one of the really large sleepers your tractor should not weigh that much. I would say the average weight for a tractor and trailer is less than 35,000 pounds. Most should be around 31-33M which would make it easy to scale at least 45,000 pounds or more. You should be able to scale at least 45,000 pounds. You never want to take a load which you know is going to be over weight.

Thank you! I ask because I seen this information on one truck seller web site. Looks like print mistake.

My 379 Pete is about 18,000 lbs full of fuel, and with my moving trailer full of gear is about 42,000 lbs. The largest truck in our fleet (with 20 feet of sleeper behind the cab) is 54,000 lbs empty. What you saw was DEFINATELY a print mistake.

I got my HHG trailer and tractor under 40K once.

(2nd trailer I was running, 1/2 the amount of pads, no walkboards, no dollies). Normally its 42/43K.

My 2006 Freightliner Columbia was 18K and change fully fueled.
