Default Is it wrong to bypass a broker?

While looking over a few company load boards, I noticed a large amount of loads coming from a local depot, of which I know the name(but its not listed on the load board) Can I contact them direct and try to transport for them? What do I even ask them? ops:

If you have your own authority, who you do business with shoul;d be your own business, thats why you have it and aren't leased onto a company. I say go for it, whats wrong with getting a higher rate per mile?

A broker helps a shipper get freight moved. If they can call you directly, then its a better playing field for business. 8) I could be wrong.

You can call the depot direct. First, call all of the brokers moving this freight and see what they are offering, add 25% to the best rate and make that your offer to the transportation manager at the depot. If this depot is not actually the shipper, ask who is. They need trucks and you have trucks, so get that business. What to say: Introduce yourself and your company, do not under sell yourself or over commit yourself, ask what lanes do they need help on, price those a little higher than the +25% I mentioned earlier. You may have to move lanes you dont really want to get in the door. The goal is getting in the door. Do not move a load for a broker out of the depot, then try to solicit the depot. That is a no-no. Good luck, keep us posted.
