Default Tire Advice For A Logging Truck

I am gonna need to buy some drive tires in the near future for my Truck, and was wondering for a logging truck:

1. What Brand Name would you advise.

2. What Tread Pattern.

3. Is it best to buy locally (for warranty, or problems) , or search around for price.

Separate Question: Has anyone ever dealt with pull-offs (Tires that the gov pulls off after buying a brand new truck and installs their approved version? And if so any advice or information on this.

Thanks So Much For All The Advice and Information!

all depends-are you going to stay entirely Off Road or both Off Road and on Highway?

When I hauled logs we had 11 axles and each tire was rated for around 24,000 #s.
I don't know where You're hauling logs at but Up here our Legal weight is around 165,000#s and as you know-West Coast log hauling and Log Hauling up here is totally Different and southern Pine hauling is different from both of these :P

are you hauling Sticks Length-wise or Cross-wise?

I will be hauling sticks length wise. The legal wt limit in AL, GA, & TN where I will be hauling is 80,000 on the interstate, and 88,000 on the side roads.

OK-I'd just go with a 24.5 Komatsu tire.
We had them a little bit Under inflated and they seemed to work well.

I don't know your state Regs But I'd put Wide Fronts on your Steers if you can and I don't know how much off roading you're running.

In northern WI we run Bridgestone 711 on the drives. I would advise you not to run retreads. They just don't hold up off road.
