Question Charleston/Summerville SC Driver needs work

Hello board. Right now it's premature to ask for an actual j-o-b. I can't work until I get my GA CDL switched over to SC, and my DOT card expired. But I wanted to post just to see what I'm up against, and maybe get some contacts or suggestions.

Ok, so here's where I'm at. I've been out of the trucking game since 2006. I'm getting by doing other things, but I need to earn some extra cash and I want to regain trucking experience. So I'm hoping there might be an O/O in my area who will put me to work. I'm only looking for part time work, no OTR. Just an occasional run here and there. Team or solo, whatever I can get. Even just loading out a truck now and then would be great. I'd be back in the driver's seat getting some experience and a couple extra bucks would be a blessing.

Now here's my question for y'all O/O's. Would the insurance costs outweigh the benefits of hiring a part time/casual/back up driver? I have no idea how that works.

Just in case anyone's interested, I have about 13 years TT experience, mostly pulling dry van and flats, but also walking floors, containers, log and scrap trailers. Also worked a rollback and dump truck. Unfortunately I don't have a TWIC card and I dropped hazmat years ago. Still have doubles and tank endorsements but no experience with that equipment.

Hmm what else. Did I mention I'm a damn good driver? Yeah buddy. 0 points, 0 accidents, 0 DUIs. Lost track of how many miles I've logged after a million or so. And just because I haven't driven in a couple years doesn't mean I forgot how. Once I quit trucking for 2 years then jumped right back up into a Pete 379 and took off down the highway like a pro. Didn't even take a road test for that job. Drove the truck for the next 2 years never put a scratch on her. Just sayin... all these joker job recruiters don't have a clue. Either you got it or you don't. When I quit that job they hired a dude with lots of "recent experience". First day out he flipped the truck and dumped 20 tons of lumber into traffic. But I digress...

Well, if anyone might be interested in hiring me (I mean once I get my ducks in a row) please let me know. Thanks
