In 2005, I obtained my Class A CDL. Got my prehire with one of the majors, went to orientation, then jumped on with a trainer. Drove from Ohio down to the deep south, rolled a few days, then got called into the terminal where I was terminated.
The reason given for my termination was "falsifying my application". When I filled out my paper application, it asked if I had failed a DOT drug test in the last five years. I answered no. I HAD failed a non-DOT test for MJ in 1999, SIX years before. But according to the wording of the question, no, I had not. When I did a phone interview, they asked if I had ever failed a test. They didn't specify a DOT test, and they did not specify a time frame. Being that I wanted to be completely honest, I answered yes. Still, they sent me to orientation and put me on a rig. Had I wanted to be deceptive, I would have answered no all the way through. So now I have been unable to obtain another job in the field, even though I am drug-free and honest. Before giving up completely, I am taking one more shot at finding a driving job. I am convinced that, with some seat time, I could be a great driver. I am safe, honest, courteous, intelligent, and patient. I WANT to do this job. My email address is: [email protected] Any offers, suggestions, pointers, etc. would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. |
