Default Help with finding a good OTR company

Hello,

My husband was an OTR driver 10 years ago. Since then, been in a truck hauling everything from army vehicles, flatbed, heavy/specialized hauling to flour/wheat. He has over 14 years of driving experience.

Problem is... We're looking to go over the road and every company we find wants someone that's been OTR in the past 2 years. It doesn't seem to matter that he's been in a truck every day since his OTR days. We want to hit the highway asap. Does anyone know of any companies willing to hire without recent OTR? We need a good company offering good miles and a rider/pet program.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

Are you saying he has been driving class a local? For a trucking company? Or just.. something else?

Go to a truck stop and grab all the cards and "truckign magazines!" that are slap full of ads. Also be REALLY smart and try local trucking companies.

Companies want OTR/regional experience because DOT/logging/csa. actually id think they snap him up because i assume his CSA is zero. Not that many companies insist on recent OTR experience though.. only class a experience. There are lots out there that will provide refresher training. If he cant find one check for local driving schools with refresher courses. It's usually a week in class and costs 1 to 3 grand and he's good to go.
