Default Any I phone users here? Also your favorite trucking apps

I am wondering how the I phones are holding up out on the road, also I hear there are some cool trucking apps out there. I have the weather channel which is pretty cool.

i have one and primarily use the google places app. Helps me find a bar within walking distance on those long bad days. Many of the apps i've found so far are junk tho and not really worth while.

I have an EVO and only use a few apps, none truck related: Drudge, USA Today, AP Mobile, etc. But, with the EVO, I do have a WiFi connection for my laptop, which does everything else.

USA Today, ESPN Scorecenter, iHeartradio, AIM, Pandora(bout to drop them) and TWC. I have the Youmail app for my voicemail also and a couple of games, Spider Solitaire and regular Solitaire.

I stick to the free one's only. If I need a map my iPhone already has Google maps so I'm good there. Thank god they finally starting updating their Earth view.

As long as you have a decent signal everything works fine. When it drops to the Edge network(AT&T) off of 3G, apps that do updates or streaming tend to not work right. Games like Solitaire still work even if your in the middle of the desert with zero signal.

There are some pretty cool apps out there. CAT Scales and TA/Petro have apps that will help you find their nearest location. One called "Ahead of Me" reads your current direction and speed and will tell your where you should be and what the weather will be like from 1 to 12 hours in advance.

"Trucker1" from 1st Guard insurance has several interesting apps. It has Digi-Speed and Speedo-Map apps that show your location, heading and speed. They also have a "heads up display" option that lets you lay them on the dash at night and read them in the reflection on the windshield. It also has a "friends" app that lets you see if any of your registered friends are near your present location. And it has a "Road Tweet" app that will automatically send out a Tweet to your Twitter account at preset intervals (from 5 to 60 minutes) that lists your present location, altitude, direction of travel and speed. An interesting app if folks at home want to know where you are at any given time.

There is an app called "iExit" that will show you upcoming exits and the services located at each. "Hazmat Segregation" is an app that lets you know what classes of Hazmat can be loaded together and which classes cannot be loaded together. And finally, "Truckster" is the only app that I paid for - it's a really good listing of all the truck stops out there, listed by state and highway. It shows the truck stops, lets you map them and Google them and lets you check fuel prices (if that info is online). It also shows what services (motels, food, service) are within walking distance. Best of all, it's constantly being updated by other drivers and they encourage users to update the listings if you find errors or changes.

They have the Truckster one for Android as well - $3.99. It's in the Market as "truck stops" - I found it by searching for truckster (it's the only one that came up).

I do wish that Pilot would release an Android version of their app.
