Question definition: accident/incident/preventable

I forget what the criteria are for an accident according to the dot and dac, does a vehicle have to be disabled and towed for an incident to beconcidered an accident. When can an employer list an event as an accident on your dac, when is it a preventable? What would a scratch be?? what if it was not your fault??
'preciate it guys.

I believe the only time an accident is not preventable is when you hit an animal. Any other accident is preventable, whether you are at fault, or the other person is at fault.

Accidents due to bad weather conditions... is a gray area.

With most drivers... just being born is a preventable accident.
Back when I was born, ... by today's regulations... I'd be a disqualifying offense.

I've kinda wondered about that myself..
What if....
Ya know, like if you run off the road in ice or something.

"Mr Jackrabbit.. You came around this curve,
and you went threw the barb wire fence right there.
Could this accident been unpreventable?"

"Of course it could have been!
If yall woulda had enough sense to keep me at home,
out of this ice n snow,
this dag gum wreck wouldnta happened."

I was wondering what a company can actually put on a dac and what they can list as an accident....?
I guess a cracked windshield is a preventable too, lol!

Yup - you should have the ability to dodge hailstones the size of golfballs while they're falling out of the sky. And to think you call yourself a driver...
