I've been out of a truck since September 2007. No accidents, DUI's, Tickets, abandonment's, or criminal record,etc, ever. However I have only a little over eight months driving experience and it could easily be considered job hopping during that period. My reasons for hopping were personal and involved teen age children still at home. Thank you US Army........... My DAC report is clear, however does state "review required" if rehired. I graduated C1 drivers training in July 2005 and they are offering me a 40 hour refresher and job placement "assistance" upon completion.

My question is this. With the economy being slow and trucking companies really picking and choosing new hires, is it worth it? C1 offers job placement at the completion of the refresher, but I can find little or no information from people who have been through the refresher programs. I'm not asking for a premier driving job, just stable employment. My wife works in a pretty much recession proof industry (Health Care Nurse) and my income will only be a supplement to her income and savings.

I would really like to hear from anyone that has completed a refresher and their employment opportunities following the training.

 

No one here has used a refresher program? I must really be desparate.....
