Yeah, it is the pay scale for C.R. England. It has been four or five years since I have driven for a carrier that has paid CPM. and was wondering if that sliding scale was customary in the industry now. Have no plans of driving for this carrier, just wanted to see what you guys thought.

I'd do a lease purchase deal, but from what I've heard, I'm just a jerk who tries to screw over everyone he has ever worked for.

I never understood the whole sliding scale thing.
Why is driving 500 miles worth less than driving 600?
What is it about that 100 miles difference that results in less pay?

From the driver's seat, miles are miles.
And should be paid based upon experience and tenure with the company.

Of course these days the pickens are slim.
You gotta take what you can get.
Any port in a storm.
Thus giving a green lite for these companies to get away with the given standards they do.

Now that I'm semi-retired, I stick with part-time regional work.
If the company has any overflow work they call me up.
Otherwise I'm at the fishing hole.
It's a cake gig, I just hook to a pre-loaded trailer.
Drive.
Drop, hook, and head-on back to home base.
I know all the places I can stop along the way and get a nice hot meal.
And I get paid for all the miles I drive.
Easy money.
Which is the way it should be.

My answer. No.

If you tell me that I'm going to make a certain amount per mile, I expect that per mile. You can add more, but never less.

And I'm not driving for .26 per mile.

what english speaking american (or canadian) would drive for .26 per mile? those are some of the people that are ruining the trucking industry for everybody else.

Recent grads for the mega carriers drive for about that but after x months its a lot better. I started at .29 but progressed to .355 when you it the yr mark which imo is a good scale for a newb coming out of school. I did good that yr too and made 44k not bad for a first yr.

I wouldnt drive for that pay scale unless the bennies were really good to make up for it in the back side.
