I would imagine that Swift would be a good company. There has just been a lot of "joking" about the company.

If you are interested in working for Swift, I would just talk to the drivers at that terminal that is close to you. Ask them about how things are working there, and how they are treated, etc.. It might be useful to you for future reference, just by talking to the drivers. It would probably help by asking them where they run, how many miles they run, etc..

Also, I'd like some comments about this question. I am trying to decide if I should attend Mid Florida Tech for $2051. Their course is 8 weeks, a total of 320 Hours with a minimum of 1000 hours OTR. Plan B, I could go with Swift and receive the training for free if I stick it out with them.

I'm about 40 miles NW of Orlando (Mount Dora), and Swift does have a terminal in Ocala, which isn't too far away from me.

I welcome any comments or suggestions, thanx everybody.
Go with Mid Florida Tech. You'll be glad you did. You'll get some good fundamentals and the guaranteed 100 hours driving should enable you to pass any road tests with future employers. A big plus is that you'll be able to go with any company willing to hire you and not have to worry about paying them for your schooling. In fact some will even pay a tuition reimbursement at so much a month up to $3000-$5000...

I used to be a company driver for Swift. I personally think they're a great company to work for. They always kept me moving with good weekly miles.
