Default Wish me luck. CDL test tomorrow.

UPS has set my test up for tomorrow. They don't mess around. I've had 7 days of training. Yes its very intense, but wish I had a little more time. Trainer feels confident that I'm ready. My backing has come along and I feel good about it. Weird I can nail an alley back, but stuggle with an offset back. I can do it, but its not easy. Any tips for a CDL test?

*Don't hit any curbs. Period.
*Pay attention to any clearance signs. The examiner may ask you "What was the clearance marking on that sign back there for this bridge?"
*Take your time. It's not a race. The examiner doesnt expect you to get it done in record time. Just to get it done in a safe manner.
*Make sure your familiar with the truck to know where all your lights, wipers, etc are.
*Dont screw up on the pre-trip. Name anything that you can see that could get damaged, fall off, unsecure, burnt out, leaking, etc. Basically if you can look at it, name it.
*Seat Belt!
*Know the air brake test! :surrender:

Thats about it. Oh yeah, and dont forget to PASS THE TEST!
Good luck & Dont drive like those New Stanton, PA UPS drivers...issedoff:

tell the examiner to put on his seat belt, don't assume he will. remember to GOAL before you back up. at the very least it will give you a chance to collect your thoughts and calm down a bit.

you do better at alley backing because it's easier to imagine a straight line to guide off of. offset backing involves more imagination to determine where you want the trailer to go and what you have to do to get it there.

good luck, i'm sure you'll do well!

Good luck! I am getting ready to start my school in Indy next week. Been schooling myself up for a while now. One thing I will mention is this. Try to relax. You will perform better and make your examiner feel better if you are at ease.

Probably the biggest thing is to relax and remember to breathe.

During the driving portion of the test, if you miss something like a clearance sign just tell them you missed it and continue on. Don't let it frustrate you and then snowball and cause you to do more harm than necessary to your score. During my drive test, I did this exact thing and the tester knew I had missed it and he just wanted to see what I was going to say. I flat told him I had missed it, took my points deduction, and continued on.:smokin:

Oh ya and don't forget the battery box and the play in the steering wheel, these were the two things I missed on my pre-trip.
