Arrow Haz Mat ?

I need to get the haz-mat cert...

No clue as to what to do..

Can someone outline the steps in getting one of these.

(Last job i was able to avoid this...looks like the new job wants me to have it for real)

Contact your state's motor vehicle licensing department and get their list of acceptable places to do your back ground check. Contact one of those on their list and start background check process. Once you get your clear background check, go to your motor vehicle licensing department and take the test for the endorsement. At least that is how it is done in MI. Your hazmat isn't transferable, as in you cannot transfer your hazmat with your CDL like the other enforcements.

I just did it in Texas, I'm sure its different in every state. I had to take the test at the Driver's License Office first. When I passed the test I was given a package with the information and phone numbers to schedule an appointment to get my fingerprints taken. That package ( fingerprints and other info on various forms) was sent in to our State Department of Public Safety, CDL Division, who sent it in to the FBI. That's when all I could do after that was wait over 90 days for my letter of approval to come from Homeland Security. I took that letter back to the driver's license office where I had taken the test, gave them $10.00 and was given my temporary license with the HazMat endorsement on it. 3 weeks later my plastic license arrived in the mail.
