I am hoping that this thread is in the right place - if not I guess I will find out.
With the fountains of knowledge that are available could someone please let me know the protocol for obtaining a OTR job from Australia/NZ. I have 20yrs experience and have done freezer/dry vans, oversize loads on lowbeds, auto carrying etc. I would like to see some more of the world and trucks are always a good way to do it. If anyone is able to help me out I would appreciate any info - please send it through to [email protected]. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

I'm not sure if the info is still current, but I googled it, and apparently there is a company who runs the mines down there that might be able to answer your question

I ate lunch beside a fellow from there once...Really didnt tap him for information...but he did mention
something about their drivers are not allowed to stay outback or alone for more than 14 days... The psychologist claim solitude is not good...so they route you back home.

Just to be clear, are you from Australia and want a job in the USA or do you want to go to Australia and work as a driver there?

Sorry for the confusion - from Australia looking at work in the USA.
I have heard of guys going to work in USA but that was a long time ago - just want to know if it is still a possibility or have things changed? Thanx

The job market here is extremely tight right now. There is a driver surplus. Many carriers are cutting back or have gone out of business.

Thanx for thast info - I got the impression from this site that this was the case.
Fortunately there is adriver shortage in Oz so no trouble finding or keeping work - may be an option for those who can travel if looking for combining work and travel options. Currently some companies are parking trucks up because of the driver shortage??

Over here, companies are parking trucks because of a lack of good paying freight.
