Default Is pulling in so hard?

I understand that if it's late and the only parking spots open are the Idleaire ones. And I don't mind if you idle while parking there.:thumbsup:

But, for the love of God, pull in straight. In the past month or so I have been cursed by drivers not being able to pull into a spot in straight, most of the time the trailer is cut into my spot or the driver on the other side.:thumbsdown:

What's amusing about this is the next morning if the leave before I do, I get a show of them taking 10 minutes and 10 pull ups trying to get them selves out.:clap:

Be very careful when you back out of a space. I've seen a few trucks parked behind get hit. I don't like to go into a place that has it. If it were BACK IN, it would be a different story, but backing out is a hazard.

When I was OTR, I always seemed to seek out the less-filled, Mom'n'pop, fill-up stations.

That and I always tried to look for a parking spot once the ninth-hour has been breached.

A few nights ago I sat for 18 min. while a garbage hauler tried to back into a space, he had a guide out on the ground but just couldn't get the swing right. There was some chit on the cb about his lack of backing skills and I got to thinking, how much does an end dump driver really back up when hauling garbage?

But on the other side there is alot parking geniuses out there! I've seen them park blocking the scale and even 4 side by side in the entrance drive going to the fuel pumps leaving just enough room to get by all the time there is a dozen or so empty spaces in the lot, go figure.

It is also quite possible that your garbage hauling neighbor, trying to collect extra money by rolling down the lot, might have been a "TRAINEE" and the "guide" might have been his trainer. Or, he could simply be a new driver with little experience. For that matter... I've had "off days" where I just couldn't seem to get it right.

The angle of the lines and all that overhead steel creates the illusion that you're pulling in straight.

Instead of everyone manuvering to get "straight" between the lines, everyone should just go with the illusion.

That way we could all be parked crooked together.

Backing out has never been a problem for me. I just go slow and and keep a eye on the mirrors. That's not to say I haven't seen more than a few guys come mighty close to ripping of a rear bumper or two.

That's why I pull a three unit trailer, never could back up. Most I ever do is drop my main trailer and pull up 20 feet. Crane, or forklift, sits my jeep in front of the trailer and I back up under it then back it under the main trailer Sometimes I even have to back the whole thing up if I had the stinger decked

As tight as some truck stops are, I'd rather back in the spot, than pull in.

the pilot (or is it loves?) in ripon, ca has idle-aire spots that you can back in to. they're the spots on the north side of the real crappy lot.
