Gladhands are the red and blue metal structures on the front of trailers. You'll also find a pair of them attached to similarly red and blue lines on the back of the truck. They supply air to the brake system of the trailer. If the lines/trailer gladhands aren't colored, they'll be tagged with the appropriate function. Red is the emergency air line and blue is the service air line. Edit: Just make sure the colors match or you'll go nowhere fast. ;-)

Plus it an Item he can get at any truck stop or at the Company shop. Preferred would be the Company shop, no out of pocket money then...
