I think this happens more than you think. Same thing, here...after working for 7 months and 2 getting raises, the last paycheck was not paid at the ending salary but dropped back down to starting salary. Even contacted wage and hour division about it...I don't know how they get away with it but they damn sure feel comfortable doing it...they should hand you your last check with a jar of vaseline and some paper towels...
