Out of the two, International. Love them... even the 9800.

I was told by several Freightliner dealers that they no longer even stocked parts for anything but Detroit and Mercedes.

Too many companies going over to Volvo because of the engine choice? I know of a couple of companies that have gone over to Internationals and away from Freightliner because of the engine choices.

I'm driving a Columbia with a Detroit, and they can keep it. Every month, the thing has to go in and get the EGR fixed again. And, just a couple of months ago, I read that the DD-15 (or something like that) was going to be the only thing for all of the trucks from Damliar Chrysler. I don't mind the Columbia, but I sure would like to have a REAL engine in it.
I had a 2000 classic XL with a cat. Cat has always been an option in Freightliner as far as I know. There are lots of Stars with cats as well. They haven't been available in Volvos for quite a while but all the other brands still offer them as options. Cummins will replace CAT as the premium engine option in Freightliner after CAT stops production of their on highway engines.

I only have my engine repairs done at CAT engine shops never at dealers. I prefer Alban CAT but there are some other good ones as well.

From what I am reading. my guess is most of the newer trucks have more problems than the older ones. my 95' intl hase served me well. over 1.2 mil miles & still going strong. too many mandated changes required too soon has made .. i.m.o trucks needing more maitenance.

That's where my head is at. I'm in the beginning stages of planning that route. Tho, I must be younger than you. I figure I have another 10 years to go. Aren't you retired from Law Enforcement? Or am I already gaining on memory loss. :P

Volvo AB and Volvo Car Corporation no longer have anything to do with each other, anyhow.
