Hate to change topic (Albeit there doesn't really seem to be much of one anyway...) But, Golfhobo, I've sent you a few PMs and was wondering if you ever got them?

My apologies, Matcat. Yes.... I got them. Things have been a bit "unstable" at my SMALL company due to high fuel costs and illegal usurpations by brokers of the surcharges. i.e: I wasn't sure whether I could recommend such a move to you at the moment. I WILL try to get you a "private" answer this "short" weekend!

Hope you are hanging in there okay for now. I WILL say this, for open forum consumption.... much as I have always touted "smaller companies," the way things ARE.... this MIGHT be a time that a driver is better "protected" by working for a mega carrier! It has been projected that over 75% of small companies in MY state alone, will "go under" this year if things don't change concerning fuel prices.... OR regulation of surcharge allocation!

This is certiainly NOT "our daddy's" trucking industry anymore! If trucking has always BEEN the "backbone" of our country..... our current administration has just about BROKEN that backbone.... AND our country's economy!

Of course.... it has had HELP..... from SOME of the orgainizations that proclaim to be advocates for our industry!

I am inclined to "write in" Windwalker as President and Jimmy Hoffa Jr. as V.P.

But, that would mean a return to trucking "regulation." And this is a dirty word for Conservatives and Capitalists. They call it "Socialism." But, a Free (market) economy has led to a Global Economy, which has led to MAJOR OUTSOURCING of jobs to Third World Countries and their lower paid workforce. AND has contributed to the Class Warfare and structure of our country.

Those who fear American Socialization (to SOME degree) are setting us ALL up for WORLD SOCIALISM, that will affect even THEIR economies! But, they are too blind to see!

It doesn't escape ME that the administration who touts SMALL BUSINESS is hell bent on destroying the SMALL BUSINESS TRUCKER!

The future of this industry..... and indeed, the whole country.... is in the balance at the moment! I am not convinced that EITHER Presidential candidate is CONCERNED enough, yet alone CAPABLE of keeping it balanced!

I think it is time that we voice our opinions VERY STRONGLY to our so-called "representatives," and that we make it CLEAR we are tired of political solutions!

It absolutely AMAZES me, that the Conservatives who tout "free market economies" are now (unless they are the mega rich) feeling the pinch of the World economies they helped develop, with the help of their CHAMPION... George "silver spoon" Bush!

With the market trending downward, and interest rates at an alltime LOW, I ask again... are you better off today than you were under the Clinton Administration? And IF you are.... is it not because you have "shorted" the future of the American economy? Bet AGAINST our productivity? Against the power of our dollar? In FAVOR of the oil barons and "Trilateral Corporations" of the world? In FACT.... sided with our enemies? Have you not put personal PROFIT over American PRIDE??

YOU'VE got "yours" and that's all that matters! TALK about "entitlement!!" The American "experiment" has FAILED! We simply MOVED the "Gentry" from England to America! Same "class" distinctions, same "access" to governmental powers! EVEN the same Religious governance! Just better WEATHER!

Okay..... I'm OFF the soapbox..... for NOW.... because, I don't WANT to get off on a RANT here....
