Default DAC error or not?

Hello. I just got a copy of my DAC. There is an accident on it which I know of. I got rear ended on the baybridge in Baltimore. 100% fault of the driver who hit me. Its also stated as NONPREVENTABLE in my DAC. But it also says it was DOT-reportable. WHY??? Is this a mistake??? There were no fatalities, injuries and no truck had to be towed from the scene.

Its a Federaly Regulated Industry

and they want to record everything from what I understand.

About the only thing that does not have to be put on a report

is something that happens on company property such as a drop yard

or whatever.

This is what I have been told....

I am too tired to look up the exact regs but DOT reportable accidents occur when there is a fatality, when a vehicle has to be towed (not just the truck), if property damage is over "X" amount of dollars, etc.

It is a common misconception that if an accident occurs on private property it is not DOT reportable.

Yes, Uturn2001....Thats what I thought. And NONE of these reasons apply to my accident. I Know all accidents are put on the DAC,
its the DOT-REPORTABLE that confuses me. :?

From what you say, I certainly don't see a DOT-reportable accident. No injuries,no fatalities, and no tow-away.. by the FMCSR, those define a DOT -reportable.

HOWEVER - it's possible that somebody involved decided to get medical treatment very shortly after - and somebody decided that was soon enough to be considered 'immediate'

Just a guess

It's possible that his car had to be towed away. To my understanding, that would qualify it as DOT reportable (as UTurn said). So that might've been it.

If it shows up as non-preventable, what's the big deal anyway?

I dont know if its a big deal, thats why I asked the question here. Thanks for your ideas. I will just ignore it then and not go after it.

If it is showing up as a DOT recordable accident, it means there is a report on it tied to your name. The fact that it is non-preventable means you have nothing to worry about, but you still might want to contact the local DMV where it happened and get a copy of it, because it will show up on your MVR. That way, if a prospective company asks about it, you can just fax them the report. But other than that, there is nothing to worry about.
