Driver's Never Ever do this
#21
I think the value of a loads tend to get blown out of proportion.
Treat all freight the same. Treat it as if it were yours, Pick it up on time and deliver it on time. Treat it as it were top heavy and it will shift on you. Park your truck in well visible places. When I drove for Roadway we hauled anything from Fabric, Drugs or Software. One of your loads going to St Louis might be worth $20,000 and another load going back to Columbus could be worth $5,000,000? The procedure didn't change. We Stopped were we wanted to, we didn't have to drive 200 miles before we could stop. The Kicker.... There were no Locks on the trailer. Half the time your door locks didn't work on the cab. I would bet the Prime driver still has his job. Pitbull or Poodle, you have a treat it wants? it's not barking and it's not going to bite you. If you google the meds stolen they were pretty valuable Cancer meds. I would bet it was half inside job and they they were in a another country be they found the truck.

VERDICT: The Driver is innocent, unless . . shipper has a minimum number of miles before stopping and he stopped short.
Although the guy will probably get canned for no pet rider or something just as foolish. I've hauled a bunch of high-value freight, usually computer related, and the instructions are all pretty much the same. You have to certify you have at least _____ fuel, you have sufficient hours to drive the minimum number of miles, you have enforcer locks, don't drop the trailer, etc. etc. etc . . The thieves know where these warehouses are and they know what you're hauling. They target the trailer and (usually) not the driver. It sounds to me like they knew exactly what they were doing although I doubt they were targeting cancer drugs.

Actually Prime does allow pets, company drivers and lease operators. I have a friend who started out with Prime driving team with her ex husband. Had One dog now she is solo with 3 dogs and drives for CRST.

Wow, 3 dogs in a truck. Yuck.
Glad the driver wasn't injured or worse. A CO2 fire extinguisher will back up most dogs no matter the size. It's loud, cold makes alot of noise and takes their breath away. Cell phones signals can also be interecepted with an 800 mhz scanner. It's illegal but were talking about thieves here. There is actually a market for expired meds overseas as well as new. Isn't it an unwritten rule that you never run your mouth to anyone about what's in your trailer or ask another driver? Not saying thats the case here, but I remember that as a kid and dad going apesh*t on me once.

Is it hard to locate and disable a GPS tracking system on the cab or trailer?
Wouldn't you have to know something about them to do so. Seems like the theif knew what was going on, maybe a disgruntled driver that was fired by Prime and that guy was his trainer

I remember going to Ga. with heavy rolls of paper (lol) got to the Ga. state line on 75 south when I stopped in the rest area for the night, was watching tv in the bunk when a guy called me on the radio told me that there were 4 or 5 guys at the back of my trailer breaking the lock off. I told him no worries if they could get the rolls out they could have them. The worst i got was a broken door latch. BTW the theives left cussing about truck drivers making their lives so hard ROFLMAO
