Imho the best way to run is hammer down and run hard as you can til you run out of hours. Um.. fixing.. *cough* the cartoon book as needed. Then do a 34 and start again. You do that long enough and have a dispatcher he's going to gt used to it. When that happens you can work together to get you home a lot more. Or if you dont care about hometime to have your 34 in a decent place with things to do instead of some godawful corporate truckstop parking lot.

SBASTON you will hear a lot of 'theories', 'advise', listen to me i know what i'm talking about when it comes to how not to run out of hours. The way your day and hours are dictated is not by that 'theory' but by pick up and delivery schedules to the customers.

When it comes to logging you will hear many terms and you need to understand them:
HOS
On-Duty Not Driving
Driving
Off-Duty
Sleeper
11-hour rule
14-hour rule
70-hour rule
34 hour reset

This is not representative of everybody, but here is some numbers from my logbook
Date on-duty hours (line 3 & 4)
10/1/7 9.25
10/2/7 11.75
10/3/7 10.75
10/4/7 6.75
10/5/7 8.50
10/6/7 0.00
10/7/7 0.00
10/8/7 6.75
10/9/7 13.25
10/10/7 8.50
10/11/7 8.00
10/12/7 0.00
10/13/7 0.00
10/14/7 0.00
10/15/7 5.25
10/16/7 6.00
10/17/7 10.00
10/18/7 8.25
10/19/7 8.75
10/20/7 9.00
10/21/7 11.75
10/22/7 3.75

Look at the thread Crete a year in review by evertruckerr. He shows how he logs and decides which runs he can take by how many hours he has availiable. He seems to budget his time very well...it worth checkin' out.

IMHO it isn't a very logical way of running. It makes far more sense to use a 34 hour reset to gain back hours than spreading your hours out over the 8 day period.[/quote]

X2
Its best to keep it simple IMHO. Plus dont you want to take a day off?
