Good intentions but really stupid !

The numbers DO add up for me. If you've ever seen the location in Indiana, you have about 5 truck lengths. Far less than 1500 feet. And the flatbed did it right in front of me, with a little over three truck-lengths to do it in. I don't see rolling it because of the angle configuration, but you most certainly get the trailer up on 4 wheels.

Well the 1500ft was probably closer to 1000ft from where he started up to where he intersected the lane he was trying to block ...Hobo seems to have taken the distance to mean there is 1000+ feet of parking spaces in a row ...which there is probably close to 750-800 as there is probably about 60 slots on the far side of the 2nd row at the front of the flying -J, and at about 13-14 ft wide is about 780-840 ft I guess I shouldn't have just thrown out such a number as 1500 ft ,but never thought to actually count parking spaces to give me rough measurement , but regardless it's a huge lot with plenty of room to reach speeds of 20-25 mph in the space provided , And it seems Hobo thinks the lane dead heads right to the fuel island ...It does not it runs paralell to the fuel islands but not right to them What cracks me up is Hobo is giving opinions about the math not adding up based on his assumption of the lay out of the T/S ,and yet he's never been there by his own admission  ...Hobo claims to have taken 90 degree corners at 15 mph but yet can't beleive a truck that rounded a corner at about 10 mph can get up to 20-25 mph in less than 1000ft and be shut down by the end of that 1000ft ...The intended point of the topic is that reaching these speeds in a truck stop is un safe due to all the pedestrian/truck traffic ,and not worth the risk for a truck bumping another trucks mirror who might flee the scene , And while he meant well it was not an intelligent call to make , and was putting his driving career in jeopardy for a possibly scuffed mirror , as the USX driver racing through the lot could have had a major accident in his attempt to keep the other driver from leaving . And to Golf Hobo you may have reached speeds of 15 mph on ..."STREETS"...but corners in truck stops are not "STREETS" ,and the traffic is 2 way non traffic controlled and relatively narrow and until you come around the corner ... It's BLIND... so speeds of much more than 5mph in T/S are unsafe no matter how you spin it after all you are not on the hwy or street you are in a parking lot with truck/pedestrian traffic that is not organized now show me the math that disputes my statement that speeds of much more than 5mph is safe in a parking lot . |
