I haven't actually watched the video you are talking about, however I did learn something in my years of hearing about accidents etc.

What you should keep in mind (4 wheelers and truckers) is that if you are in slowed traffic and you are not so many feet (I forget the "legal" amount) behind the vehicle and another vehichle plows into you and you in return plow into the vehicle in front of you then you are held charged with rear ending someone on your "company" record and possibly charged with the accident.
It's very critical for your sakes to always make sure you have enough space for a tractor to roll up on you and hit you without you hitting the car in front of you. This is just a basic example. It's really a messed up world in a way regarding accidents!

I have heard many of our drivers get accused of being to close while being rear-ended. It's crazy I feel if the driver behind me doesn't stop it's his/her fault but most states don't see it that way :roll:

 

This is why I LOVE our truck, which is an automatic (I know y'all are bitching about them :lol: :wink: ), but I don't have a tired clutch leg ever! :lol: Rolling back on a grade? Nope. Just put the left foot on the brake and the right on the accelerator, give it some fuel before you release the brake and no rolling back either. So yeah, automatics are really making you less tired.

 

this sorta is a reply but also goes into a previous post from a few weeks ago, or maybe it was in an article i read. DRAFTING. i have noticed that it is occuring a lot more lately. some car mag wrote about the fuel savings 4 wheelers can get from drafting on us bigrigs. i run a fast truck and run big miles. 4 wheelers that try drafing on my tail scare the bejnusees out of me. when i am running 75 and see a 4 wheeler tuck itself in behind me so all i can see is it's shadow if i am lucky i get worried, i boost it up to 77 then 80 then 85 damn thing is stuck to me like my bumper sticker, only way they ever leave is when i slow down less than 40 for a while. then they flip me off for making them slow down. anyone else notice this drafting thing?

 

I just notice the typical idiot barreling down on me (in the right lane) ho has to slow down an inch from my trailer before realizing I'm going slower and they have to pass (doing an inch off my bumper)

 

ChopperBob - may have been a mag, but it was probably Mythbusters. They demonstrated that drafting actually does improve your fuel savings - by up to 40% as I recall.

Of course, they were careful to repeat that "this is not safe, this is not legal" etc. but when was the last time that had any effect?

Further, it's worse than cleaning the bumper on your trailer - the idjits are starting to tailgate moving emergency vehicles (fire trucks and ambulances). That's going to get very, very messy in court.

 

try running with brake lites on uphill at 75mph then hit jake. nah. it just scares the heck out of me when idiots disappear behind me, 'specially at the speeds i run.

 

i wonder if chopperbob slowed his big rig down if he could afford to buy his family a nicer minivan??? keep on keepin on there big rigger

 

8) nah slow down lol. was just joshing you all. i usually run the legal speed limit when conditions permit, otherwise what is safe for my limited driving skills. I was just mentioning the unusually frequent ammount of 4 wheelers drafting lately. the only safe way of dislodging them i have found is to slow down to an unsafe speed myself until they leave me. i carry rusty nuts and bolts as an extreme when on my bike but usually dragging my steel heels and sending a shower of sparks gets rid of tailgaters on my bike. I don't have a sperk thrower on my truck. would be nice tho lol

 

might i suggest ball bearings. or what i like to do is my current dip or spit bottle.
